Sony Ericsson issued a recent statement that they have no future plans on building a smartphone using the Symbian OS and will use the Android OS for all upcoming smartphones.

As of yet, Nokia is the only one currently still building phones for it and the iOS and Android OS appear to be gaining on it. A recent report came out stating that Apple still has a hold onto that market as of yet.

Why, you may wonder? In my own opinion this is due to 2 issuses, which are these.

Not all Android products or phones can be used with the app store or even support the apps. So that is hurting the OS in a large way. But they also still have a whole lot less apps than the older iPhone market does. As Android grows in sales, I expect that we will see more apps for it. That they may lose their hold on the market for smartphones, as the Android becomes more common. For a long time you couldn't buy a Android or any smartphone without a 2 year contract, which is now just a thing of the past! Cricket and Boost Mobile are both selling Android based phones for prepay or no-contract phone service.

Boost Mobile's Android phone is the Motorola i1, which you can buy only at Best Buy. They sell it around $400.00 and you can use it just as like you could with a contract. I believe they have a $50.00 dollar monthly plan for everything as unlimited. It is a good deal, the only downside is that it is sold only at stores, though you may be able to buy it online via Best Buy.

Cricket has the Sanyo Zio by Kyocera, which you buy online, stores and via phone. I also belive that this is unlimited plan as well.

Both are great options for those who want a smartphone for less money(or at least in the long run) and those who do not like contracts. The downside is that the iPhone is rumored yet again to be coming on Verizon this January.

So the sales for the Droid Incredible HD may be down due to the iPhone, if both rumors are even true. Google recently released their own app inventor for Android, which will allow anyone to create their own app for the Android based phones. This will even allow those who are not good at writing codes to create one. This will allow one way for the Android to grow in a way that the iPhone cannot.

This only makes me want to own a Android this much more! This will give them a boost to really gain footing on Apple, which seems to be faltering at the moment. Well, with the new release from the latest OS update your Android phone can tell you when your cities local bus will be coming your way.

I am so happy that they added this feature, it will help so many people who do use public transit. It will be easier than having to keep getting a new bus schedule every time they release a new one or if you hardly ride it and do not have one handy. This feature is one of the better features out in the market and I am happy that they have not forgotten about those who do not drive.

How do you feel about this addition to the Android phones?

What Is The Android OS?

Many wonder what the heck is this Android phones and devices that they keep hearing about. Well the simple answer is a Google's OS that they release to gadget creators to build systems on.

The most common device that uses it are smart phones, like the new Motorola i1 that is being released on Boost Mobile's network. The Android OS has been known to give Apple's iPhone OS a run for its money, and unlike Apple's the Android OS can be used for other mobile devices as well. It is not limited to only Google device and is considered a freeware.

The Android OS has grown and will likely continue to grow over the next 5 years with additional advancements taking place.

What are your thoughts on the Android OS?
