GameStop Now Offers Android Tablets

GameStop is a US retailer that sells video games and video game consoles, and are now are joining the market for growing tablet retailers. More than 1,600 stores across the country are now stocking select Android based tablets. They are marketing them as gaming tablets in part of their expanding market. They sell some of the top tablets such as the Acer Iconia, Asus Transformer and Samsung Galaxy.

GameStop started selling them in some stores since November 2011 as part of a soft launch. Now they stock them in most store locations. Consumers who buy them will also find a few extras with their purchase, such as select free games on the tablet such as Riptide and Sonic CD. The prices should remain within the same range as Bet Buy or WalMart. However, GameStop does stress that you can trade in for it with games, consoles and even Apple products including the iPad.

This move appears to be made in time before the E3 launch. As we see with the iPod/iPhone/iPad, the gaming market is slowly changing and GameStop is making sure that they can get a piece of the mobile gaming market as it grows.

Symbian Loses Sony Ericsson To Android

Reportedly Symbian is the most popular smartphone OS out on the market, yet they lost one of their biggest manufactures-Sony Ericsson. Sony Ericsson issued a recent statement that they have no future plans on building a smartphone using the Symbian OS and will use the Android OS for all upcoming smartphones.

As of yet, Nokia is the only one currently still building phones for it and the iOS and Android OS appear to be gaining on it. So their days of being the number one smartphone OS is limited.

What are you thoughts on the news about this? Is this good or bad in your opinion? Is this good for Google or bad in the long run? I am a little bit torn on this, I think it could both ways.

Android Apps Are Not As Popular As The iPhones

While the Android may be beating Apple is sales slowly, they still are behind in the app market. A recent report came out stating that Apple still has a hold onto that market as of yet.

Why, you may wonder? In my own opinion this is due to 2 issuses, which are these.

Not all Android products or phones can be used with the app store or even support the apps. So that is hurting the OS in a large way. But they also still have a whole lot less apps than the older iPhone market does. As Android grows in sales, I expect that we will see more apps for it. But I suspect that Android apps may end up being much like the Blackberry's.

What do you think?

Android Web Usage Gains, While Apple's Falters

Ouch, Apple's once a top of the line smartphone that is called the iPhone is slowly losing to Google. The latest stats have come out the people using the Android for web surfing is getting higher, while Apple's is going down.

What does this mean for Apple? That they may lose their hold on the market for smartphones, as the Android becomes more common. Steve Jobs may need to go back to his lab soon and come up with something that is better than Google's Android OS is. Or else Android may replace Apple totally at some point.

Prepaid Android Phones? They Do Exist!

Android phones may be one of the hottest gadgets on the market behind the iPhone and iPad. For a long time you couldn't buy a Android or any smartphone without a 2 year contract, which is now just a thing of the past! Cricket and Boost Mobile are both selling Android based phones for prepay or no-contract phone service.

Boost Mobile's Android phone is the Motorola i1, which you can buy only at Best Buy. They sell it around $400.00 and you can use it just as like you could with a contract. I believe they have a $50.00 dollar monthly plan for everything as unlimited. It is a good deal, the only downside is that it is sold only at stores, though you may be able to buy it online via Best Buy.

Cricket has the Sanyo Zio by Kyocera, which you buy online, stores and via phone. They go for around $300.00 and require a plan of $55.00 a month. I also belive that this is unlimited plan as well.

Both are great options for those who want a smartphone for less money(or at least in the long run) and those who do not like contracts. You can also unlock any smartphone leghttp://missvirtualrealityblog.net/2010/07/27/the-iphone-is-no-longer-a-prisoner-of-att-thanks-to-legal-jailbreaking/ally as well, so don't feel limited to what those prepaid companies sell.

Dell Streak Uses Android Software

The Dell Streak which is a hybrid of smartphone and tablet PC. The Streak is out on the market now and can be bought for $300.00 USD along with a two year AT&T contract.

If you are considering to buy the Streak, remember that they are using a older version of the software and that many of the newer apps will not work on the older version of the Android software.

It should also be said that many of the top tech reviewers think that it is more hype than anything.

What do you think about the Streak?

Droid Incredible HD Coming To Verizon?

HTC already has their Droid phones out on Sprint network, but rumors are swirling that perhaps their newest version the Droid Incredible HD will be on the Verizon network.

I want this to be true, since it can really give the iPhone some major issues if they go with a popular network. The downside is that the iPhone is rumored yet again to be coming on Verizon this January.
So the sales for the Droid Incredible HD may be down due to the iPhone, if both rumors are even true. Neither may even come out on Verizon, we do not know at the moment eitehr way. But I do have hopes that HTC will do something the Apple has failed to do.
The good news is that even if both rumors turn out to be just rumors you can still buy either one and get it unlocked for the network of your choice-which is now legal thanks to the Federal Government.

Do you hope that the Droid Incredible HD comes out for Verizon? How about the iPhone rumors?
